Quiet

The moments of pure silence in our lives are nearly impossible to find. The rush of our culture like the white water rapids of a river seem to never end yet if you follow the river long enough there are the most peaceful places on earth. Are you living in the rapids and never finding the quiet times of your life? I think all of us fall into this trap, which leads to discontent, burnout, shallow relationships and limited potential. Live life to the fullest, take time today to stop and listen and think in the midst of beautiful silence. You may have to practice this, at first the silence may be defening to you because your mind won't slow down. Keep at for a few days and what how serenity sets in.

Live the Epic Life.

This is not biblical, it's New Age. And I don't think there's any coincidence between this blog and the contemplative spirituality movement that has run rampant in emergent and seeker-sensitive circles for the last few years. See http://www.lighthousetrailsresearch.org/ for the dangers of this practice.

On page A6 of today's (9/9/09) Sacramento Bee, there is an article entitled "Buddhist retreat turns an ear to sound of silence". In it, the reporter describes the perpective of the Buddhist participants:

"Prolonged silence, they explain, is the only way to reach the deep level of inner awareness required to bring true happiness"

Sound familiar?

Pastor, please retract your blog post lest any of your readers be led to believe that there is biblical support for a practice derived from Eastern religions.

Thank you.

Guess I'm being ignored. On a separate note, here (The Shaq) is a bit of satire involving the bestseller from William P. Young: heretical, er, I mean, esteemed guest of Capital Christian Center earlier this year. Sadly, it is no laughing matter as it is yet another example of the leadership's lack of biblical discernment.

Mr. Reid,
It is interesting how you believe you can experience silence when you have no conscience or morality. You are are a professional, show business spiritual phony, a charlatan and deceptive thief of God's language which you blaspheme everyday in service of your depraved Satanic need to promote yourself as a "good person," which you are not.
You have no idea what you are about to go through. A piece of paper for which you paid a few dollars doesn't qualify someone to teach God's Word. Personal understanding of Truth is God's requirement for spiritual teachers. Pretty words are not Truth, Mr. Reid.
If you want to know God, try telling the Truth about Kelly Anne Get off the stage, Doug, as God doesn't share the Light with Satan.

That name, again, is Kelly Anne McKean. You remember this person, don't you?
I listened to your phony, hypocritical sermon on apologies.
Where is the apology you said you wanted to give me?
I see you withdrew the apology you began to offer after you met with your attorney, whom you are paying with the cash you market Jesus Christ's sacrifice for to pad your own pockets.
Your career is future history, starting now. You are being observed by God's eyes everywhere.
